Cold Cut Distribution is proud to announce its all-new CHANNEL X ADVANCE ORDER CATALOG. This wholesale catalog, sent first-class mail to comic book retailers on Tuesday, February 18th, offers almost twenty new comic books, graphic novels and a DVD for release in April 2003 -- most of which are not available through any other source.
Over the past couple of years, many new publishers have been telling Cold Cut that the existing comic distribution monopoly has become increasingly uninterested in alternative and independent publications. As a result, many new publishers are not even attempting to solicit their books through Diamond Distribution, therefore bypassing most comic book stores. The comics industry needs a new distribution channel for these quality books -- one that is more in tune with alternative publishing.
Cold Cut's CHANNEL X catalog contains 19 new, cutting-edge and alternative comics products -- most of which are being offered for sale for the first time, and are currently not available for sale through any other comic book distributors. As an incentive, Cold Cut is offering these books at the highest possible flat-rate discount with no minimum order, so retailers can order without having to deal with discount plateaus. Most items are available to retailers at 50% off the retail price. Half of the items listed in the catalog will arrive in comic book stores on Monday, April 14th, and the second half on April 28th.
A very broad mix of high-quality talent is represented in the CHANNEL X catalog, including Ignatz Award Winners Joel Priddy and Rachel Hartman, Xeric Grant recipients Songgu Kwon and Gerald Jablonski and Day Prize winner Tom Williams. Marvel Tsunami writer Sean McKeever presents "Looking at the Front Door", and small-press creator Cole Johnson offers the latest "Sugar Free Days". There are books for goth fans, such as "Devilboy in the Land of Fun", comics for manga readers, such as "Fractured Kisses" and "Panda Days", alternative comic strip collections, such as "Rehabilitating Mr. Wiggles", thought-provoking illustrators, high-quality anthologies, and a DVD about comics creators called "Scenes From the Small Press: Mainstream Raw" by Rich Henn.
The CHANNEL X catalog is not the beginning of a monthly advance order system, and Cold Cut does not have any intention of competing directly with other advance-order distributors. Instead, the CHANNEL X catalog is meant to complement the existing distribution system by offering books and comics not readily available through mainstream direct-market distribution -- products which will appeal to the college-age-and-older demographic, which is one of the faster growing segments of today's market.
All orders for books in the CHANNEL X catalog are due to Cold Cut by March 14th, 2003. Any comic book retailer can place an order for books listed in the CHANNEL X catalog. Retailers who are already Cold Cut customers and have ordered through Cold Cut within the past couple of years should be receiving a copy of the catalog in the mail shortly. If you are a comics retailer but you are not a current Cold Cut customer, your order is also welcome! Setting up an account with Cold Cut takes only minutes over the phone -- just call us. If you do not receive a copy of the catalog, you can request one by contacting Cold Cut.
